Workouts of the Seasons

Hullo :)

How are we on this fine Wednesday?

I just got done with an ab and tricep workout + some elliptical work. Again, I decided to sleep past my alarm, so I intend to get the rest of my workout done after my second client tonight, which will be shoulders and biceps! Splittin’ it up today, yo!

Currently digesting some hot protein oats:

I cannot even fathom eating hot oats after a sweaty run, so I take advantage when my workout doesn’t involve an extreme rise in body temp :)

So yesterday was an incredibly long day. It was filled with work and activities, and the busyness made it speed by, but by the end I was one tired chica.

It started out with a quick interval run and moved on into some delicious OOIAJ:

Overnight oats in a jar!

IMG_8494

One thing that perplexes me about Overnight Oats is how to get the nut butter good and mixed in. A barely-left empty jar solves that problem. Just scoop a little from the side with each bite!

Then I was off to work at the BIC for the day. I broke for lunch around noon.

This salad was absolutely amazing. In it was a bed of romaine, topped with the previous night’s tofu, corn, sunflower seeds, craisins, black beans, and a dressing of EVOO + apple cider vinegar + stevia + sea salt.

Snacks included a choco PB Lara Bar, some dark chocolate almonds (love!) and an apple.

After a hard day’s work at the BIC, I had a small break before heading to the gym to train a couple clients. I wasn’t quite ready for dinner yet, but I needed something…

A smoothie in a bowl made a perfect pre-training snack, and by the time I left the gym, I was more than ready for dinner:

Replica of the previous nights’ dinner. Gotta love leftovers on late nights :D

A handful of almond m&m’s was calling my name afterward:

I answered them promptly, no questions asked ;)

Workouts of the SeasonsSeasons

Here in Central IL, one has to seize the opportunity of outdoor activities during the months of May through October. In my opinion, November through March are just downright unbearable when it comes to Illinois weather. That is precisely why you see so much running going on lately. Yes, I’d like to try all the exciting workout DVD’s coming out, but I know I’ll be itching for something new to do come mid-December when running just simply isn’t an option for me (outdoors, at least.) I’d also like to get in some biking workouts before the summer ends, but I’m still working on getting the hubski to dive into that adventure with me.

Like the change of seasons, I have workout seasons. Winter is workout DVD time – I don’t even feel like driving to the gym when it get impossibly cold and snowy. I also do more yoga in the winter. Spring is definitely running season – the best running season, in my opinion. Summer is still running season, but by now I’ve usually added in riding the bike. And fall is typically gym season. For some reason, I lift the most weights, go to the most classes, and work on the most cardio machines in the fall.

Do you have workout seasons? What season is it now?

Well today’s going to be another busy one – workin’ at the BIC and training two clients. Me<—chuggin’ along :D

Creative Fuel’s A-Burnin’

Mornin’! How ya feelin’ today?

At the moment, II feel…rushed? I didn’t wake up in time to get my planned 3.5 mile run in, so instead I did a quick n’ speedy 2.5 miler. I managed my time well, too:

Mile 1: (first .5 was warm up at 9:40) 9:33

Mile 2:8:28 (alternating sprints for .2 and recovery jogs for .1)

Mile 2-2.5: 7:51 :D

The weather has cooled off a bit since this weekend, which made for phenomenal running weather!

Yesterday, productivity was the name of the game. After all the weekend festivities, I had a lot of catching up to do.

My day started a bit later than typical Mondays do for me. I got to wake up an hour later than usual because I didn’t have a client this morning and I welcomed the extra sleep. Although I didn’t eat several hours before bed last night, it took a good hour for me to work up an appetite for breakfast. So I walked Niko, did some laundry, and worked on the blog. Finally, hunger set it.

Do I really have to tell you?

 IMG_8482

whole wheat protein waffles. Switched up the topping a bit by using vanilla stevia instead of maple syrup (because we were out) and I added a half of a banana in there for good measure.

 IMG_8483

I was so full after eating this. It’s better as a post-run breakfast, since I always come back from a hard run famished. But I’ll take it;)

With fuel in belly, I went upstairs to the office to work, work, work away. My creative fire was a-burnin’ when I woke up, so I took full advantage by working on a project I’m involved in with my client-turned-business partner. It’s one that cannot get pushed to the back burner, so it’s imperative to seize the motivation to work whenever it appears. This is an example of when my to-do list gets thrown out the window. When I feel the need to write, cleaning, creating plans, and grocery shopping can get pushed to the bottom of the list.

I worked up until I headed to the gym to get back/chest workout in, and then hopped on the elliptical for about 20 minutes. I wanted to take it easy on my legs, since Sunday I both ran a tempo run and had a leg strength training sesh. The stems were a wee bit sore yesterday. After training, I had to hit up Target, the post office (Lara Bars are on there way, winners!) and a grocery store.

Purchased this lil’ gem for some quick fuel:

Now, if you’ve been a reader for a while, you know I’m not a calorie counter, but I was very surprised to see that there were 260 calories in this little bottle!! And all it is is fruit juice…craziness I tell ya.

Once home and showered, I made a real lunch:

IMG_8484

My favorite part of working part time at the BIC? I get to make real lunches some days during the week!

Tofu marinated in tamari, vanilla stevia, EVOO, sea salt, and apple cider vinegar:

Sweet potato fries.IMG_8486

Both were roasted on the same pan at 425º, for 30 minutes, flipped half way through.

Then it was time to make the house sparkle. Even though I just scrubbed the floors last week, I had to again yesterday. Typically, I only get down on my hands and knees to scrub the floors once a month, and then once or twice a week, I’ll hit them with the Swiffer wet jet. Well, yesterday while shopping for Swiffer pad refills, I refused to buy them at nearly a dollar per pad. The Swiffer boy cot sounded like a good idea yesterday… haha Even so, nothing’s better than a good scrubbing I suppose.

After some more paper work, PT work, and taxes stuff, it was time to start dinner!

On the Menu:

His and Hers Enchiladas!

Sautéing up the veggies (plus some sweet corn added later)

One veggie enchilada comin’ atcha!

Dessert was some All Natural Frozen Yogurt:

Well I gotta bounce on outta here! Gotta get ready because today’s going to be a loooong one :)

Ciao

Do you make a “to-do” list? How do you organize it? I typically write it out in the order I want to get the tasks done…that way I won’t worry that I won’t have enough time to complete them and it makes it more realistic in terms of including too many tasks. But like I said, sometimes ya gotta go with how ya feel!

And We Were Dancin’ And Singin’

  Hey, hey, hey!

So where did I leave off? Ah, yes – there was part of a bridal party in Hobby Lobby.

From there, we all gathered at the winery. They had a small room for the bridal party where we proceeded to drink wine, apply makeup, and cater to the brides demands (heh, this bride was anything BUT a bridezilla :) )

IMG_8441

Aren’t the bridesmaid dresses pretty? They were J. Crew – and about knee-length. The matron (me) and maid of honor w/ Jess’ mom:

Pretty bridal party bouquets :)

The bride getting laced up:

Gah, her dress was gorgeous.

Obligatory shoe shot:

40 toes!

Jess warned me that the meals weren’t veg-friendly, so I stashed a veggie sub from Subway in my purse and ate it around 1:00

IMG_0120

The wedding was at 4:00, and the weather was looking iffy, and unfortunately started to rain around 3:45! And the wedding was outdoors. But hey, what are plan B’s for? Luckily the bride rolled with the punches and decided to use plan B – which was to have the wedding under a covered area. It actually turned out nice, because that’s where the reception was anyway, so everyone was already seated and at their spots come time for the reception!

Apparently after the pre-wedding stress was over, I retired as photographer, because these are the only other shots of the night I captured:

Table we were sitting at (in between dancing it up!)

In addition to the glass of toasting champagne, I probably had about 2 beers the entire night. It was SO much fun though! Everyone was dancing and singing like it was nobody’s business, which always = a great time in my book :D

Congrats Jessica and Clint :D :D

Shane and I got home around midnight, and I was starved (I partook in some melon and potato salad for the wedding meal, hehe) so I popped an Amy’s veggie Enchilada in the micro as soon as I got home:

And then drifted off to dreamland…

It’s going to be a productive day – I can just feel it! Good thing, because yesterday didn’t exactly turn into a work day like planned. I have a lot of writing, constructing, and cleaning to do :D

Hope you guys have a great start to your week!
